We are the local bat group for the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend area and are affiliated with the Bat Conservation Trust.
- To further the knowledge of bat distribution and activity within our area;
- To promote the conservation of bats and their habitats;
- To provide a forum for discussion on bat conservation issues;
- To improve public perception of bats;
- To consider sustainable options in all our activities.
The group is made up of volunteer members. To become a member, please complete our membership form.
All donations, both large and small, to the group are always gratefully received.
We are working in collaboration with Cardiff Bat group this year, researching woodland bats with a focus on Myotis species. This is really important research looking at rare and under-recorded species to identify and protect important sites for bats. The project and bat groups are run entirely by volunteers. We need more survey kit to help us with this project, so if you can donate anything, no matter how big or small, to help towards this project, please follow the link to our JustGiving page.
Given that the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend Bat Group is a partner group of the Bat Conservation Trust and run by volunteers, we are unable to undertake commercial surveys. Should you be required to identify the presence of roosting bats in advance of a development or land-use change, please refer to the CIEEM Professional Directory for the services of a licensed bat ecologist.
